Panizzolo Flex 1000 Static Hammer Mill: Getting More Value From Your Metal Scrap

Panizzolo Flex 1000 Static Hammer Mill: Getting More Value From Your Metal Scrap

Mixed metal scrap is full of value, but only if you can get at it. Electric motors, transformers, WEEE, tins and shredded aluminium all contain copper, aluminium, brass and steel locked together with plastic, rubber and other materials. A good hammer mill breaks that material apart, so the metals can be separated cleanly and sold at a far better price.

That’s exactly what the Panizzolo Flex 1000 Static Hammer Mill is built for, and it’s available now through Machines On The Market, alongside the full range of Panizzolo recycling equipment.

Who are Panizzolo?

Panizzolo is an Italian manufacturer of recycling machinery, specialising in hammer mills and shredders for metal scrap. Their machines are built to be modular and flexible, so the same plant can be set up for different materials and combined with separation and sorting systems to suit each operation. Panizzolo hammer mills are used by scrap metal and recycling companies across Europe to recover clean metal fractions from mixed scrap.

What can the Flex 1000 process?

The Flex 1000 Static grinds and refines medium-sized metal waste, including:

  • Electric motors
  • Electric transformers
  • WEEE (waste electrical and electronic equipment) scrap
  • Shredded aluminium
  • Tins and cans
  • Mixed metal scrap

How a hammer mill adds value to scrap metal

A hammer mill uses a heavy rotor fitted with swinging hammers to impact, tear and grind material against the walls and grids of the grinding chamber. For metal recycling, that does three important jobs:

  1. Liberates the metals: copper windings, aluminium and steel are broken away from plastics, insulation and other materials.
  2. Cleans and densifies the metal: the grinding action knocks off contamination and produces compact pieces that are cleaner, denser and easier to separate.
  3. Prepares the material for separation: downstream magnets, eddy current separators and other sorting systems then recover each metal as a clean fraction.

The result is a higher-value product. Clean, separated metal is worth considerably more than mixed scrap.

Static or mobile: which Panizzolo Flex is right for you?

The Panizzolo Flex range comes in two main formats.

Static Flex hammer mills are fixed installations, ideal for permanent processing lines at a recycling site, where they can be integrated with conveyors and separation equipment. Static models available include the Flex 500, Flex 800, Flex 1000 and Flex 1300.

Mobile drum Flex hammer mills are transportable recycling plants with a hammer mill. Panizzolo builds them pre-assembled on roll-off containers, so they can be moved between sites and set up quickly, even where space is tight. Mobile models available include the Flex 500, Flex 800, Flex 1000 and Flex 1300.

As a rough guide, choose static if you’re building or upgrading a permanent line, and mobile if you need to process at different sites, want to trial a new material stream, or need a plant up and running quickly.

Panizzolo hammer mill FAQs

What is a hammer mill used for in metal recycling?

A hammer mill grinds mixed metal scrap to free the metals from other materials and clean them up. That makes it possible to separate copper, aluminium, brass and steel into higher-value fractions.

What’s the capacity of the Panizzolo Flex 1000 Static?

The Flex 1000 Static listed with us has a 315 kW motor and a capacity of up to 13 tonnes per hour, depending on the material.

Is the Flex 1000 new or used?
